I don’t believe Kate could have looked more beautiful on her wedding day. As many royal or celebrity weddings do, Kate’s aisle style completely summed up the era in which she married. She has brilliantly embraced tradition, but established her unique identity, and gently balanced the struggle between luxury and modesty.
The moment she stands up from out of the car, my mind immediately led to Grace Kelly of Monaco. Grace Kelly is one of our most traditional brides of the 20th century, and Kate has been handed the torch. She introduced a modern neckline, and continued the lace motif on the skirt and train of her regal dress. I love how the skirt is very full, yet the fabric lays flat on her waist to show her great figure.
The modesty is shown in her choice of veil length. Usually, if your train is several feet behind you, the veil matches the length, as Grace Kelly’s Juliette veil demonstrates. Also, you cannot help but notice the smallness of the bouquet. With as much lace that is on her amazing dress, there is no need for a large cascading spray of lily of the valley that would actually cover up the dress. I could not help but be pleased with her style, and the nostalgia that was brought on throughout the royal wedding day. Congrats to Will and Kate!
